Booking the House of the Earth
Are you a workshop instructor, artist, musician and are you looking for a room for your seminars, workshops, exhibitions or small concerts? Does your NGO need a suitable room for a conference or a lecture evening? Our clubhouse can be booked for individual and group offers, as well as for small events, on an hourly, daily and weekly basis. Renting to third parties helps us cover the monthly costs of the clubhouse. Supporting members of the association receive reduced rental conditions.

Please note that our clubhouse project is only starting. We are currently collecting donations and submitting applications for funding to further equip the House of the Earth. We will keep our list of equipment as up to date as possible hold.
The house
The Haus of the Earth is the lovingly restored pigsty of the former Rössle farm and is characterized by its very special charm and beautiful location. It has a floor area of approximately 140m² of interior space and approximately 500m² of exterior space. Our community of 12 adults and 6 children as well as the gastronomy of the Landgasthof zum Rössle are located in the adjacent building.
Facilities
Ground floor: 54m² seminar and group room including kitchenette (equipped for 30 people), storage room, toilet
Upper floor: approx. 70m² attic divided into 3 shared dorms with 2x4 beds and 1x6 beds (14 beds in total), toilet with shower and bathtub
Also: 15 meditation cushions, 15 wool blankets, 20 folding mattresses, catering with regional organic cuisine from the Landgasthof zum Rössle available on request.
Accomodation
The House of Earth is finally equipped with 14 beds, so that overnight stays are possible. The beds are equipped with duvets and pillows. You can bring your own covers (sheets, blankets and pillowcases) or rent them from our NGO for €5 per set. If the number of groups is larger than 14, there is the option of setting up your own tents in the garden upon request or placing existing folding mattresses on the floor in the house. The maximum for the house for multi-day bookings with overnight stays is currently 16 people.
About the area
Arrival & parking
Arrival: The House of Earth is located approx. 10km outside of Freiburg and can be reached by car, bicycle and public transport. It takes about 30 minutes by bike from Freiburg and about 20 minutes to walk from Kirchzarten train station.
Parking: There is a private parking space in the driveway of the house. The parking spaces in front of the house on the street are from the restaurant to the Rössle and must be kept free for guests of the restaurant when it is open (Thu-Sun 12 p.m.-9 p.m.). The House of Earth is located in the municipality of Kirchzarten in the Black Forest Dreisamtal. The village center of Kirchzarten is about 15 minutes away on foot, where you will find an organic shop, numerous bakeries and supermarkets and a tourist information center. The idyllic surroundings invite you to take walks, hikes and trips to the Black Forest and Freiburg im Breisgau, 10km away. You can find out more information about things to do in Dreisamtal here.
Mindfulness
We trust you to show enough care and respect for our place and for nature. Festivities only by prior arrangement, otherwise the usual statutory rest times apply. The House of Earth is a non-discriminatory place of diversity where everyone's boundaries are respected and everyone can develop freely regardless of origin and gender identity. Disrespectful, discriminatory and aggressive behavior has no place and can lead to expulsion.

Rental conditions
We hope that House of the Earth can develop as a place for everyone and that no one is excluded due to financial possibilities. People have different amounts of money and different financial flexibility. Therefore, the goal is that we can one day make the premises available on a free donation basis so that people can individually pay what is possible for them. Click here to find out how this can be possible. But we're not at that point yet. The following rental conditions are designed in such a way that the ongoing monthly costs of the clubhouse can be borne at the point where we are at the moment and at the same time are based on the usual prices for the rental of clubhouses and seminar rooms in the Freiburg area.
If the rental prices are too high for you, please contact us anyway and we will see what is possible for us and whether we can find a common solution.
*For weekend bookings, multi-day bookings with a minimum of two days and one overnight stay have priority. Daily bookings are only possible in exceptional cases.
*Hourly bookings are only possible for supporting members and usually only Monday to Friday forenoon. Exceptions are possible.
*Overnight minimum of 6 people (even if fewer people stay, the price for 6 people will be charged)
*Heating surcharge from October to the end of April per person per night for overnight stays: €5
*Hourly and daily bookings without overnight stay include use of the ground floor and garden, unless otherwise agreed. For bookings with overnight stays, the use of the bedrooms and bathroom on the 1st floor is added.
*Final cleaning does not apply to hourly bookings, but only to day bookings and bookings with overnight stays.
*You can either bring your own wood for the fire pit or purchase it from us for an additional charge.
Larger celebrations such as weddings, birthdays, etc. have separate rental conditions. Please message us for further questions. If required, the Landgasthof zum Rössle's premises and/or the catering service with regional, sustainable cuisine, which is located in the adjacent building, can also be requested.
